My name is Layla Bluefort, MSW. I am an alumna of Johnson C. Smith University and the University of South Carolina. I became a Social Worker because I wanted to help families. I decided that I wanted to help families in a nontraditional way....so I became a Licensed Life, Health and Accident, & Medicare and Long-Term Care insurance broker and combined my Social Work degrees to become the first Asset Protection Social Worker! My love for LJM Heritage starts with my love for my three daughters: Lauryn, Jamaica, & Makayla and knowing that by protecting your assets and lifestyle I am also protecting your heritage!
In 2007, at the age of 27, I became a Hodgkin's Lymphoma Survivor, so I know first-hand that we do not always get to choose the cards that we are dealt. An unexpected cancer diagnosis while raising 3 young daughters taught me a hard lesson because I had not protected my ability to earn income. Not being prepared resulting in me selling an annuity prematurely and losing over $70,000. This lesson is the reason I am grateful to be able to educate and assist others on how to be proactive and protect their life style, assets, and loved ones.
